Vancouver put an end to its three-game losing streak and dealt the Flames their first home defeat in nearly two months behind a stellar performance from Roberto Luongo on Tuesday. The netminder stopped 26 of the 27 Calgary shots he faced to lead the Canucks to a much-needed 3-1 victory.
Daniel Sedin paced Vancouver's offense with a pair of goals and Trevor Linden also tallied in the triumph.
David Moss had the only marker for Calgary, which had ripped off a franchise- record 10 consecutive victories at the Saddledome and hadn't lost at home since a 4-2 setback to Washington on October 30. Miikka Kiprusoff registered 25 saves in defeat.
The Flames haven't had nearly the same success as the visitor this season. Calgary is 5-10-3 on the road in 2006-07, although the club has split its last four contests away from home.
Vancouver, which snapped a six-game road skid last night, brings an 11-7-0 home mark into tonight's tilt.
Calgary had won two of the previous three meetings between the division foes this season, including a 3-2 decision at GM Place in November. Vancouver has taken six of the last eight in the series, however.
Both teams currently have 37 points and are just one behind co-leaders Colorado, Edmonton and Minnesota in the jam-packed Northwest standings.
