Surging Avs welcome Stars
Hockey Betting Lines
12/27/2006 - (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - The Colorado Avalanche look to maintain their strong recent form when they continue a homestand this evening with a visit from the Dallas Stars.
The Avs have been playing their best hockey of the season as of late. The club has won five of their last six games to jump into a three-way tie with Edmonton and Minnesota for first place in the tightly-bunched Northwest Division.
Colorado has also won four in a row at the Pepsi Center, including Saturday's 3-2 decision over Chicago, and is 10-7-1 on home ice this season.
Wojtek Wolski was the hero against the Blackhawks, as the rookie compiled the first two-goal outing of his brief career. Joe Sakic added a goal and an assist for the Avalanche, while Jose Theodore needed to make only 17 saves to preserve the win.
Dallas comes in off last night's 2-1 loss at Chicago, but will be facing an opponent it has dominated in recent meetings. The Stars have defeated Colorado six consecutive times, including twice this season, and has emerged victorious in each of its last three trips to the Pepsi Center.
In the Stars' most recent trip to Denver, the club came through with a 3-2 overtime victory in the regular-season opener for both teams back on October 4.
Dallas had won two straight prior to Tuesday's loss to the Blackhawks, in which Chicago's Nikolai Khabibulin recorded 11 of his 20 saves in the final period.
Stu Barnes netted the only goal for the Stars, who fell to 11-9-0 on the road, and Marty Turco finished with 22 saves.
Dallas continues to play without standout center Mike Modano, who has been out of the lineup since December 4 with a hip flexor, while former Hart Trophy winner Eric Lindros also sat out Tuesday's contest with an upper body injury. Lindros is questionable to return tonight.

NFL Football Betting : Odds on NFL Division to Win the Super Bowl
The AFC South and the NFC East are the favorite divisions to have the next Super Bowl champ among them in the NFL betting odds. But more down to the point, these football odds are in favor of the Indianapolis Colts, by far the strongest team in the AFC South, and the Dallas Cowboys of the NFC East.
Most sports fans would agree that these two teams top the list to win it all before the season even begins. In the BetUS Sportsbook football futures, the Colts are +800 in the odds to win the Super Bowl, while the Cowboys are sitting at +1000 and the Super Bowl XLIV champions New Orleans Saints at +900. In the AFC South, the Colts won the division for five straight years after the 2002 realignment, before the Tennessee Titans won it in 2008. But the Colts came back strong in 2009 to win the division again en route to the Super Bowl. The Cowboys are the favorite to win the NFC East, as well as to advance far into the post season. The Cowboys won the division last season before their horrendous loss in the NFC Divisional playoff to Brett Favre and the Minnesota Vikings. But the ‘Boys will take that loss humbly and be ready for the playoffs this time around.
The NFC South is also very strong, at +600 in the NFL futures, considering that it is home to the defending Super Bowl champions. However, some predictions have the Atlanta Falcons with possibilities of claiming the divisional title this season in place of the Saints, as no team has won back-to-back division championships since the division realignment took place. Let’s not overlook the AFC North at +500. As TO goes to Cincinnati to join Chad OchoCinco and Adam “Pac-Man” Jones, this team looks to claim the division title again. And it is likely they will do so. The Bengals lost in the AFC Wild Card spot in a hard-fought battle against the New York Jets last season. Lest not forget the Pittsburgh Steelers, the XLII Super Bowl Champions… All these teams present interesting odds and matchups for the upcoming season, but the safest and surest bet seems to be with the Colts in the AFC South and the Cowboys in the NFC East. March Madness odds and printable March Madness brackets
With the field of 64/65 set, MySportsbook.com has the Florida Gators as the 4-1 favorite to successfully defend their National Championship. Men’s Division-1 College Basketball has not seen a team repeat as National Champions since Duke won back to back championships in ’91 & ‘92. After losing three out of four late in the season, the Gators are full of momentum as they won their last four games by an average of 18 points. Not surprisingly, right behind the Gators are the other three top seeds: Kansas 5-1, UNC 6-1, and Ohio State 7-1. Many consider Kansas to be the hottest team in the country, having won 11 straight. With Kansas, it is hard to ignore all of the early exits from the “dance” in recent years. With an impressive ACC Tournament, UNC ensured themselves the other top seed. UNC has about as much talent as any other team in the tournament but with a team that’s best players are primarily freshman and sophomores, could youth be a concern. Behind freshman sensation, Greg Oden, OSU will look to do what their football team failed to do just a few months earlier. OSU seems to have peeked at the right time, as they currently have a 17 game winning streak. Since the tournament field was expanded in 1985, there has never been an instance where all four #1 seeds advanced to the Final Four. It is obvious that each of the top seeds have the talent to make it through to Atlanta. But as everyone knows, when makes the NCAA Tournament so special are all of the spoilers and “Cinderella” stories that knock off the favorites on a daily basis.
